Sean Bell Shooting Raises Police Misconduct Issues
The shooting and subsequent death of Sean Bell in Queens, New
York has raised new calls for police
misconduct from many groups outraged by the incident. Bell
was shot to death when police opened fire with 50 shots spread
between himself and two or three others, which is still under
debate.
Part of the outrage centers around the fact
that Sean Bell was just hours away from his own wedding.
Girlfriend Nicole Paultre, however, stated on CNN's Larry
King Live that she was not angry over the incident.
Miss Paultre went onto say that she was just trying to
"be strong" over the incident. Human right activists
known as the December 12th Movement demonstrated outside
the New York police station protesting the police department's
overly aggressive attitude towards the black community.

Reverend Al Sharpton and a long list of elected officials attended
Bell's funeral on December 2, 2006. Sharpton was quoted as saying
that he intended to mobilize and pursue justice in the matter.
Brooklyn rapper, Papoose, has come out with a song on the radio
called "50 Shots" in response to the Sean Bell shooting.
Lawsuits over the incident are expected to be forthcoming.
