Michael Peterson Settles with Step-Daughter for
$25 Million
Convicted murderer Michael Peterson reached a $25 million settlement
with his step-daughter, Caitlin Atwater in North Carolina. Peterson
is a former novelist and mayoral candidate and was convicted of
killing his wife, Kathleen in 2002.
The wrongful death civil lawsuit against
Peterson will help prevent the convicted murderer from profiting
from his latest book. Atwater has stated that she doesn't
expect to receive any money from Peterson who filed for
bankruptcy last year.
The money damages, according to Atwater are largely symbolic
and will help her to put matters to rest knowing that
there is now a monetary value assigned to her mother's
death that her step-father must now live with.
