Groom Lake Hazardous Waste Lawsuit Stalled Yearly
The Groom Lake hazardous waste lawsuit has been stalled as President
George W. Bush and President Bill Clinton before him every year
issue a Presidential Determination classifying much of the information
about Groom Lake for national security reasons.
Groom Lake is also known as Area 51 and
is a remote tract of land in southern Nevada that has been
used by the United States Air Force for secret aircraft
and weapons development.
The widows of Robert Frost and several other unnamed
civilian contractors sued the Air Force and Environmental
Protection Agency in 1994 for wrongful
death when biopsies of the deceased turned up unusually
large quantities of dibenzofuran, trichloroethylene and
dioxin in their body fat.

|
In regard to the Groom Lake hazardous waste lawsuit, the government
has asserted State Secret Privileges so that classified documents
important to the plaintiff could be withheld. The U. S. Supreme
Court refused to hear the plaintiff's appeal and the information
has remained sealed. Area 51 has also been the target of UFO and
alien conspiracy theorists over the years.
