Fred Goldman Sues O. J. Simpson over "If
I Did It" Book
Fred Goldman, father of murder victim Ron Goldman, has filed
a fraud lawsuit in federal court against O. J. Simpson for the
$1.1 million advance on the "If I Did It" book, which
has been pulled off the bookshelves worldwide.
Goldman is claiming that Simpson profited
from the crime he was convicted of in civil court. In 1994,
Simpson was acquitted in criminal court of the murders of
Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson, but a civil court
found Simpson liable for the murders in the amount of $33.5
million by a preponderance of the evidence.
Since this time, O. J. Simpson has evaded paying the
civil verdict. According to Fred Goldman's lawsuit, Simpson
set up a shell corporation called Lorraine Brooke Associates
(taken from his two children's middle names) in order
to funnel the book advance without detection.

By bringing forth the lawsuit, Goldman is also hoping to expose
everyone who helped Simpson launder the money. Also expected to
be named in the lawsuit is Judith Regan, HarperCollins and News
Corp. Judith Regan, who was recently fired, was the high profile
editor at HarperCollins who helped Simpson publish the book.
Because of public outcry, spearheaded by Fox News Media, the
book has been pulled from the major bookstores and from online
outlets such as Ebay and Yahoo. Fox also cancelled its interview
with O. J. Simpson because of pressure from the public and internal
sources.
